Miss Beauty Haul

While browsing the aisles in Wilkinsons my bf came across these Miss Beauty nail polishes. They were priced at only £1 a bottle so he encouraged me to pick out some colours I would like to share with all of you! (isn't that nice of  him).

Miss Beauty is a UK brand made by Pascalle LTD who formed back in 2004 and are based in Stoke on Trent. The company produces everything from skin care, foundations and concealers, to powder and creme eye shadows, eye liners and of corse nail laquers and treatments.  Their clients over the years have included Molton Brown, M&S, Bodyshop, l'occitane, UK supermarkets Tesco, Asda and Sainsburys and COTY (the new owners of OPI).

Thats quite a resume for a £1 polish!

Lets see if their "right first time" mentality has paid off.

I picked up three colours from the range, no.11 Lagoon, no.12 Lilac and no.16 Ocean

Ocean is dusty muted teal/aqua colour, darker and more muted than OPI Mermaids Tears, very similar to the base colour of No7 So Neat, but missing the gorgeous shimmer.

Application was a little tricky, the first coat applied streaky, but the pigmentation was good. In the end two coats was enough and is what you see here.

My camera is picking the colour up to be much more of a vibrant green than what it is :(

Drying time was quite speedy, touch dry in around 3-5 minutes.

Lagoon is a beautiful cobalt blue colour with golden shimmer. Application was easier than Ocean, less streaks. I used three coats here.

Lilac is the sheerest of the bunch, but still a gorgeous colour. More of a magenta than a lilac in my opinion but lets not pick hairs. This is four coats.

La Luna

I love creating ruffian manicures using my favourite jewel tone colours. This manicure is no exception.

Ruffian manicures, inspired by a half moon shape are a quick and simple way to add an accent colour to your nails, I prefer gold and silver polishes for this, but any metallic colour will look fab!

For today's ruffian, inspired by the moon, I chose a base colour of Cheers To You from China Glaze, a beautiful silver foil, and the top colour is OPI's Yoga-ta Get This Blue. YGTB was released with OPI's India Collection in 2008 and is a vibrant mix of navy and royal blue. If you want a navy that still looks blue and not black, Yoga-ta Get This Blue (really)!!

#OrangeOctober Extra-va-vaganza!

#OrangeOctober Day 29

Who doesn't love a glitter polish?!

Todays polish is the third that I have featured from OPI's Burlesque collection, wow! who would have thought Burlesque = Orange?!

P1100749

Extra-va-vaganza! (like Va-Va-Voom) is from the glitter half of the collection. A beautiful orange glitter mixed with silver, and if I'm not mistaken, green? Its a gorgeous blend which works really well for this time of year :)

Trick or Treat?! How to Remove Glitter Polish

Everyone should be able to enjoy wearing glitter nail polish at this festive time of year without being afraid of the removal process. Today I am going to show you a quick, easy and efficient removal method, using household items that everybody should have to hand.

Photobucket

You will need:
Nail Polish Remover
Cotton Wool
Kitchen Foil

and that's all you'll need!

Fist we will need to tear off 10 equal squares of kitchen foil, they need to be large enough to wrap around your finger nail and accommodate the cotton wool.

Next you will need to saturate your cotton wool in nail polish remover, I am using Cutex Moisture Guard with nail whitening formula. This is the one I like, any will do, but I find this one quick and easy to work with. I am also using balls of cotton wool instead of the pads as I find these soak up the polish remover better.

Lay the cotton wool in the middle of the foil, place your nail over the cotton wool and wrap around your finger, ensuring a tight as possible seal to prevent the nail varnish seeping out.

When you have wrapped all 10 fingers, relax ....

and do the robot!

Leave for about 2 minutes, then carefully, without tearing or ripping the foil, rub the cotton wool over your nails, if it moves with ease it is ready to be removed, if not leave for a further minute and try again.

Hey Presto! Glitter free nails!

I hope this was helpful to some of you! enjoy your festive glitter nails!

#OrangeOctober Hip Hop

Day 10 #OrangeOctober

Todays polish was a bargain! Back in September Morrisons reduced all their Collection 2000 Hot Looks polishes down to just 89p each! needless to say I scooped a few up :) and truthfully I wish I had got more, these are fantastic little polishes.

This is number 28 Hip Hop. Even at full price (£1.79) is a complete steal! these polishes are vibrant, glossy and fast drying. Just two coats were needed for full opacity.

Have you tried any Collection 2000 polishes? Which should I check out next?

NOTD: Pumpkin Spice

P1090404

This is an Autumnal/Halloween themed manicure that I like to call Pumpkin Spice. It has a little bit of sparkle and features a fabulous autumnal shade, which I know isn't to every ones taste, but this Ruffian manicure might just tempt you to try something out of your comfort zone.

P1090399

The colour I am talking about is Ginger Bells from OPI's Holiday Wishes collection that was released back in 2009 (I can't believe how long ago it was)! Its a warm russet orange creme, almost a rich pumpkin shade. I personally love this colour, it has a gingerbread-esque tone too it, but C thinks it looks like diarrhoea :( #FAIL

The base colour is OPI Designer... De Better! from OPI Muppets Collection. A beautiful champagne foil with small flecks of orange, just enough to complement Ginger Bells.

P1090405

If you are lucky enough to own a bottle of OPI Apple Pie it would make a great alternative to using Ginger Bells. Or if you are looking for a fall colour (minus the diarrhoea) OPI Chop-sticking to my Story may be worth a look.  For a non-OPI Shade how about Nails Inc Battersea Power Station or H&M's Looks Good On You - a polish I still need to pick up for myself!

What do you guys think to this colour combo? and will you be trying it out soon?

Whats your favourite ugly/pretty nail polish shade? leave it in the comments or share a photo on Facebook or Twitter

#OrangeOctober Candy Orange

Day 3 #OrangeOctober

Today's polish is by Nails Inc, and it was a Freebie! This is Nails Inc for InStyle magazine Candy Orange.

_1090093

Although a slightly unoriginal name, I like it! makes me think of Halloween candy :)

Candy Orange is a bright orange, with a hint pastel.

_1090096

But don't worry if you missed out on this colour, Nails Inc have many other fabulous orange hues

#OrangeOctober Take The Stage

Day 2 #OrangeOctober

Today's Polish is another OPI (sorry for that, more variety coming soon)...

This is Take the Stage from the OPI Burlesque Collection for Holiday 2010. Another perfect autumn/fall shade, think golden bronze autumn leaves scattered on the ground.

_1090077

Take the Stage is a beautiful orange, bronze foil polish with minuscule flecks of golden yellow, and the best bit is its light catching ability. This baby shines so bright!

What will be our #OrangeOctober for tomorrow? you will have to come back to find out!
