Blackberry (or Plum) Gelly

Last year was a great year for Barry M and his team! so many great releases and new finishes, and amongst them were the Gellys.

A collection of 9 Hi-Shime formula polishes that replicate the glossy finish of a gel manicure.  All for £3.99 from the "drugstore." Sound great don't they!?

I hauled and reviewed Satsuma back in October last year, and instantly fell in LOVE with the formula and knew I wanted to try more.

This is Blackberry Plum (mine falsely says its Blackberry, impostor)! Gelly, GNP 1.

Although they claim to be one coaters, I have always done two. Thats not to say that they aren't pigmented enough! with a careful hand one coat would easily be ample.

Poundland Haul Party of One.

Poundland has been a little disappointing on the nail polish front this festive season. So this haul is short but sweet.

I've seen this polish in my local store a couple of times while browsing the aisles for a cheap Sinful Colors or Sally Hansen polish, but never paid it any attention as its from a brand I have never heard of, or seen on the nail blogs I follow.

After quite a bit of googling I came across the link for the UK Trade Source LTD that supply Poundland with these products (they also sell Bourjois, Roc and St Moriz in bulk) but no real info on the company or their products.

The bottle is even more mysterious, shake before use is the only direction and Sparkling Blue Nail Polish is its name.

The polish itself is a pretty frosted light blue silver. Application was great! this is two coats I am showing you here, and is ample for opaque colour. Overall I would highly recommend this polish if you can find it in your local poundland.

Night Owl

So the festivities are over :( that can mean only one thing...

January sales! great for any bargainista!

Theres wasn't much that I wanted this year, but I did spot this  Fearn Cotton gift set in Boots while shopping for others, and I made a mental note to go back for it in the sales. Not knowing the quality of the polish I was not prepared to pay the £12 price tag.

The set I picked up, Midnight Manicures, was mainly chosen for this colour, and my love of owls!

P1110543_zpsccc55574

This is Night Owl, a black jelly formula with cobalt blue, aqua, baby pink and silver glitter particles suspended throughout.

This is two coats, application was smooth and the brush is a nice size. But despite a generous layer of my favourite top coat the polish still feels a little gritty :(

Have you picked up any bargains in the sales?

Magazine Freebies!

Glamour Magazine has done it again! every year it seems they team up with Nails Inc to bring us some fabulous freebie nail polish, and who could complain about that?

P1100959

There are four colours to choose from;
Elizabeth Street - a pretty, baby pink colour, creme formula.
St James - A bright red with subtle shimmer.
Motcomb Street - a dark navy creme.
and Glamour Glitter - a fine gold glitter top coat.

While shopping in Sainsbury's on Friday I spotted the new issue and grabbed two colours out of the four.

I picked Motcomb Street because I love navy polishes, but only have one other creme formula (Essie Bobbing for Baubles SWATCH). So I wanted to see how this one compared. I also picked up Glamour Glitter, which is one I wouldn't necessarily pay £11 for, as I'm not a huge fan of gold, but its aways good to have a gold especially around the holidays.

They look fab layered too!

What colours did you pick?

#OrangeOctober Anom

#OrangeOctober Day 21!

Todays polish anonymous, It's from Claires and thats all I know. A quick google search suggests it might be Julius, a neon orange with holographic glitter, it fits the description! (If you have any other suggestions on what this polish is, please leave it in the comments as I'd love to know).

P1100080

To get this level of coverage I had to apply 4-5 coats to each nail, the polish is very sheer and jelly like and the glitter is super gritty. So gritty not even a generous coat of Seche Vite helped :(

P1100082

Overall I think this polish is good for a bit of fun, a day off work, a weekend getaway that kind of thing. It doesn't have much staying power, this mani chipped within half a day! I'm glad I only paid £1.92 its not worth a lot more.

What Claires polishes would you recommend?

Poundland Haul

Yes you read that right, I said Poundland ;)

I wanted to get this post up quickly so if you wanted to check your local stores you would know before they all sell out!

Wasn't it just the other day that I was saying I wanted to try more Sinful Colors polishes, but didn't know were I could find them in the UK? Well someone up there must have been listening and the Poundland gods made it happen. Heres what I picked up

From left to right the colours are: What's Your Name 319, Tapping Nails 288, Daddy's Girl 841, Aqua 104 and See You Soon 931.

I also picked up a Cuticle Oil 905, because hey! it was a pound.

I have a feeling I've seen What's Your Name on someones blog recently, it it was yours please leave a comment! I'm struggling to find it again!

Check your local Poundland nail polish junkies, these are fantastic quality for such little money. Let me know what colours you find in the comments!

#OrangeOctober Big Daddy

#OrangeOctober Day 9

I must admit I have never been a fan of Sinful Colors. I've had the opportunity to try their polishes once or twice and was always left unimpressed, some applied streaky or needed multiple coats to achieve full opacity, others just didn't live up to what the bottle promised. But Big Daddy has converted me...

The formula, much like yesterdays polish, was a little thinner than I prefer (expect flooded cuticles yet again) but the colour was opaque in just one coat! A rich, vibrant, reddish tone orange with a juicy jelly like finish. This polish won't need a generous coat of Seche Vite for a high shine finish, but for some reason I still felt compelled to add one.

I don't know much about Sinful Colors, except the brand is not easily accessible here in the UK. So I don't know whether this comes from a themed collection or where the name came from. But I like to think its a reference to these guys ...
