St Paddy's Day Manicures - My Lucky Charms!

Photobucket

Today I thought I would take a step away from the tradition green (I've never really been one to follow the norm) in favour of something more "sweet" and "girlie" for St Paddy's Day.

So here's my Lucky Charms inspired manicure for today, I hope you like :) ...

Photobucket

Firstly I painted my nails using the base colours that I wanted, here's the line up...

Barry M 309 Strawberry Ice Cream, OPI What's with the Cattitude, Barry M 307 Lemon Ice Cream, BM 304 Mint Green, BM 308 Pale Purple.

Once they were all dry, using this photo for reference (also courtesy of google) and using various OPI and Barry M shades, I painted on my select luck charms! I used a just a normal thin paint brush, don't worry if your charms aren't perfect, they are supposed to look like marshmallows!

Postcards from the UK seaside

Gloomy, windy and freezing cold... yes that's the UK seaside!

I live only half an hours drive from the coast, so yesterday we decided to hop in the car and go for a nice evening walk along the sandy (haha) beach, and sample some traditional seaside delicacies (fish and chips)

NOTD - OPI What's With the Cattitude?

Spring is finally here!

Photobucket

What's with the Cattitude? is from last years OPI Shrek Forever After Collection is perfect for this years S/S trends.

I just love this shade of blue, it is just gorgeous. You would not believe how many compliments I receive on this colour!

Photobucket

Blue polish is set to be everywhere this spring, robins egg blue, powder blue, or a nautical shade, be it a creme formula like What's with the Cattitude? or Barry M's Blueberry ice cream or icicle like shimmers like Chanel Riva or China Glaze Sea Spray, you won't be able to escape this trend. What will you be sporting on your nails?

What's with the Cattitude is still available from the UK distributors of OPI Lena White

NOTD - Butter London No More Waity Katie

No More Waity Katie from Butter London is their limited edition polish in celebration of this years upcoming royal wedding. Which claims to "transform nails with the perfect amount of sparkle for a royal touch."

The colour is gorgeous, describe on the website as "a soft, elegant greige shade with a splash of lilac glitter for the perfect marriage to combine fashion and fun." and that's exactly what it is! lilac glitter in a sheer grungy lilac base.

Shall we take a look?

Bottle close up

The square cap lifts off to reveal a small round handle, a bit like Illamasqua polishes, which makes for easier application. Although I do find the handle a little short and stubby.

The Brush itself is also quite small, think even smaller than a Sinful Colours brush and probably about half the size of OPI or China Glaze. Great for small nails! but it did make application take a little longer as I had to keep going back over areas I had missed at the side of the nail.

<span class=

Application was OK, this is 2 coats of NMWK, giving a fairly even semi-opaque colour on the nail and with a top coat it feels smooth and not gritty like some glitter polishes.

To me the base colour appears a little darker on my nails than in the bottle and the glitter is more toned down, personally I wish it shined through a little more. As in the bottle its pure princess, shimmering and beautiful, purple being the colour traditionally worn by royalty or nobility due to the dye only being affordable to the elite. So what better colour to commemorate the Royal wedding? (and its wayyyy better that the normal tea towels and cups we normally get)!!!

I bought mine from bathandunwind.com and paid £3.99 the UK express shipping (just a pound more than UK Standard). The polish arrived promptly after 2 days and overall my shopping experience was great and I would highly recommend them.

Will you be picking up No More Waity Katie? or sticking to the more traditional commemorative plates and tea towels?

NOTD Oh My GOSH! Holographic

Highly original title...

anyway heres the pics

I have read on other blogs that this polish can be a disaster to apply and be warned, it is!

I think it is best to apply a couple of thick coats of colour, over a base coat, letting each coat completely dry before applying the next. Other wise each coat will drag off the last.

As for longevity, it has none. It is more of an occasion polish in my opinion. Some have said that a top coat dulled the holographic effect, I used Sally Hansen's Mirror Shine top coat, and I can't say I noticed a difference.

Even with using a top coat, just my morning rituals eg. shower, washing my face, make up, brushing and drying my hair, my perfect holo mani was chipped :( and even before making it to work (to be exact it made it to Costa for my morning coffee) my entire little finger nails worth of polish had peeled off as a whole! The first time that has ever happened to me!!! It was like peeling off a fake nail. Gross! haha

So is it all worth it for the holographic goodness ... yes ... I think so, but I would not attempt to try and wear it to work again. I knew it was a bad idea in the first place, so don't know why I did.

New polish = obsession to wear it!
